A term applied to a hybrid field of chemistry employing techniques which combine photochemical
and electrochemical methods for the study of the
oxidation-reduction chemistry of the ground or excited states of molecules or ions. In general,
it is the chemistry resulting from the interaction of light with electrochemical systems.
