ketyls

Radical anions (or the corresponding salts) derived from ketones by addition of an electron R2C.–Omesomer-arrowR2C–O..
Note:
Ketyls produce two types of conjugate acids: R2C.–OH and R2CH–O.. The former are α-hydroxyalkyl radicals and the latter are alkoxyl radicals, but they have also been called ketyls in photochemistry.
