Reverberatory furnace, containing a basin-shaped hearth, for
melting and refining suitable types of pig iron, iron ore, and scrap for steel production.
A large amount of dust from ore and other materials and splashings from slag are carried
away by the waste gases; a supplementary chamber is commonly used for collecting slag
and dust.
