Stereoisomerism other than
enantiomerism. Diastereoisomers (or diastereomers) are
stereoisomers not related as mirror images. Diastereoisomers are characterized by differences in
physical properties, and by some differences in chemical behaviour towards
achiral as well as
chiral reagents.
