A hemeprotein which catalyses the
disproportionation of dihydrogen
peroxide to
O2, and water; it also catalyses the
oxidation of other
compounds , such as ethanol, by dihydrogen peroxide.
Note. A non-hemeprotein containing a dinuclear managanese
cluster
with catalase activity is often called pseudocatalase.
