artificially produced' solid body which consists mainly of carbonaceous material in a distinct shape.
Note:
Sometimes this term is also used for artificially (in the sense of technically) produced
non-shaped
carbon materials such as
coke, blacks, etc. This application of the term carbon artifact is not recommended. Synonyms
to the term carbon artifact are: '
artificial carbon article' or '
artificial carbon body'.
